Congratulations to James Maritz! James won himself a copy of Figures & Fictions – Contemporary South African Photography. Look out for more competitions on Orms Connect, including our Monthly Giveaway – we’ve already got a great prize lined up for June!

James’ comment:
“Mikhael Subotzky = love the creative absurdity of his shot.”

Mike Ormrod and Jen Ferrini were fortunate enough to recently attend the Figures & Fictions – Contemporary South African Photography exhibition, which is currently on show at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The exhibition focusses on the work of 17 South African photographers. All of the images on show are related to South Africa’s political and photographic past, and were taken between 2000 and 2010.

Figures & Fictions “features works by some of the most exciting and inventive photographers living and working in South Africa today. The exhibition presents the vibrant and sophisticated photographic culture that has emerged in post-apartheid South Africa. The works on display respond to the country’s powerful rethinking of issues of identity across race, gender, class and politics.” Visit the official site for more information.

A Figures & Fictions coffee table book accompanies the exhibition, and we’ll be giving one away to one of our lucky readers. Please see the competition entry requirements at the bottom of the post.
